Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of RefundSentry ("we," "our," or "us"), a Shopify application providing return fraud detection and prevention services (the "Service"). By installing or using RefundSentry, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing RefundSentry from the Shopify App Store or using our Service, you represent that you have the authority to bind yourself (and your business) to these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

2.1 What RefundSentry Does

RefundSentry provides:

  • Real-time fraud risk scoring for product returns
  • Customer behavior pattern analysis
  • Automated customer tagging based on risk levels
  • Workflow automation for return processing
  • Analytics and reporting dashboards
  • Fraud ring detection capabilities

2.2 What RefundSentry Does NOT Do

RefundSentry is an intelligence and analytics tool. We do not:

  • Guarantee prevention of all fraudulent returns
  • Make final decisions on return approvals (you retain full control)
  • Process returns or refunds directly
  • Replace your return management system

3. Account and Access

3.1 Shopify Account Required

You must have an active Shopify store to use RefundSentry. Your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify's own terms of service.

3.2 Access Permissions

By installing RefundSentry, you grant us permission to access certain Shopify data (orders, returns, products) as described in our Privacy Policy. You may revoke access at any time by uninstalling the app.

3.3 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Shopify account. We are not liable for any unauthorized access resulting from your failure to protect your account credentials.

4. Subscription and Billing

4.1 Pricing

RefundSentry is offered as a monthly subscription at the price displayed in the Shopify App Store at the time of installation. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

4.2 Billing

All charges are processed through Shopify's billing system and appear on your Shopify invoice. You agree to pay all applicable fees associated with your subscription.

4.3 Free Trial

If we offer a free trial, you may use the Service without charge during the trial period. At the end of the trial, your subscription will automatically begin unless you cancel.

4.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time by uninstalling RefundSentry from your Shopify admin. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

4.5 Refunds

Due to the nature of digital services, we generally do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you are entitled to a refund due to a service issue, please contact us at support@refundsentry.app.

5. Merchant Responsibilities

5.1 Accurate Information

You agree to provide accurate and complete information when using the Service and to keep your store's data up to date.

5.2 Privacy Policy Updates

You must ensure your store's privacy policy accurately discloses your use of third-party services like RefundSentry for analyzing order and return data. We provide privacy policy language templates upon request.

5.3 Compliance with Laws

You are responsible for ensuring your use of RefundSentry complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and platform policies, including consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.

5.4 Return Policy Decisions

RefundSentry provides risk scores and recommendations, but you retain full responsibility for all return policy decisions. We are not liable for any decisions you make based on our data.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Access data belonging to other merchants
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
  • Use automated scripts to access the Service without permission
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our IP

RefundSentry and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Our algorithms, scoring models, and detection methods are proprietary.

7.2 Your Data

You retain all rights to your store data. We only use your data to provide the Service and improve our algorithms as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 Service Provided "As Is"

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

8.2 No Guarantee of Results

We do not guarantee that the Service will detect all fraudulent returns or that using the Service will eliminate return fraud. Fraud detection involves probabilistic assessments, and false positives and false negatives may occur.

8.3 Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for any third-party services, including Shopify, that you use in conjunction with RefundSentry.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RETURNSHIELD SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Loss of data or goodwill
  • Costs of procurement of substitute services
  • Any damages arising from fraudulent returns not detected
  • Any damages arising from incorrect risk assessments

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RefundSentry and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
  • Any decisions you make based on our risk scores or recommendations

11. Term and Termination

11.1 Term

These Terms remain in effect as long as you have RefundSentry installed or are using the Service.

11.2 Termination by You

You may terminate by uninstalling RefundSentry from your Shopify admin at any time.

11.3 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. We will provide notice when possible.

11.4 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease, and we will delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive will survive termination.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Dispute Resolution

13.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13.2 Informal Resolution

Before filing any formal dispute, you agree to contact us at legal@refundsentry.app to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

14. General Provisions

14.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and RefundSentry regarding the Service.

14.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

14.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that right.

14.4 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
