How to Auto-Tag Risky Customers in Shopify

Manually reviewing every return is impossible at scale. With ReturnShield, you can automate this process by tagging customers based on their return fraud score.

Step 1: Set Your Risk Threshold

In the ReturnShield dashboard, navigate to Workflows. Create a new rule:

  • Condition: Risk Score is greater than 75
  • Action: Tag Customer in Shopify
  • Tag Value: High-Risk-Returner

Step 2: Use Tags in Shopify Flow

Now that your customers are tagged, you can use Shopify Flow to take action:

  1. Exclude them from free return shipping promotions.
  2. Route their support tickets to a specialized review team.
  3. Require manual approval for any new return requests.
